To help those aged 16 to 25 find their paths, Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of the “youth engagement contract.” This project was praised by Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice. This morning on LCI, he even stated his desire to increase the allowance of the contract.
The president of the republic, Emmanuel Macron, addressed the younger generations on Tuesday: “Those who experienced the pandemic at the age of freedom, those who are mobilized for the climate emergency, those who are writing the future of France.”
He presented to these younger generations a new initiative concerning those aged 16-25: the “Youth Engagement Contract,” which aims to “support and reveal a future perspective among young people without employment or training for several months.”
In return for 15 to 20 hours of diligent training per week, these young people will receive an allowance of 500 euros per month. It will be implemented on March 1, 2022.
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, praised this initiative on Twitter:
“I will always prefer this logic of responsibility to that of abandoning our most vulnerable youth, leaving some to fall into dependency, undeclared work, or even criminal activities. I regret the sterile criticism from those who have nothing to propose. The City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis will be present to support this measure. I will propose a system allowing an increase in aid for eligible young people who commit to local interest work related to our communities.”
This morning, the mayor of Nice, at the helm of the azure capital since 2008, was a guest on LCI. He did more than just praise the President of the Republic’s measure; he even wishes to increase it.
In fact, he declared wanting to double the 500€ per month allowance: “It is not like welfare, because it is a measure that supports a project… I would double the amount for those who have a project.”
