The Joint Transport Union brings together the transport organizing authorities of the Alpes-Maritimes: the General Council, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Sophia Antipolis Agglomeration Community, the French Riviera Agglomeration Community, the Cannes/Le Cannet/Mandelieu La Napoule Public Transport Intercommunal Union, and the Sillages Joint Transport Union (Grasse/Mougins).
After his reelection, Christian ESTROSI reviewed the actions taken by the members of the Union since 2008, which have resulted in:
– The publication of a map of the main transport lines of the Alpes-Maritimes networks;
– The launch of the Carte Azur;
– The commissioning, in September 2011, of the website Céparou06, which has shown good user engagement with nearly 17,000 monthly connections.
Christian Estrosi emphasized the effective collaboration developed with the Principality of Monaco, whose bus network is already included in the Carte Azur area.
He recalled that the policies led by the SYMITAM and the various Urban Transport Organizing Authorities, with the ticket price at 1 euro, have resulted in a regular increase in public transport usage in the Alpes-Maritimes. In 2010, this increase was 2%, with almost 94 million trips in 2010, of which 81 million were solely from urban networks.
For 2011, the data for all the networks is not yet known, but growth continued on the Lignes d’Azur network (General Council/Nice Côte d’Azur), with an increase of 10%, reaching nearly 80 million travelers.
The year 2012 will be marked by the expansion of the Carte Azur to the Bus Azur networks (Cannes/Le Cannet/Mandelieu) and the French Riviera Agglomeration Community. The Carte Azur will thus cover almost the entire department.
