On Saturday, October 30, Christian Estrosi hosted Robert Beugré Mambe in Nice, the minister-governor of the autonomous district of Abidjan, which has been twinned with Nice since 2013.
This visit took place in the context of the “Sustainable Cities in Africa” project. In 2019, Nice won a project call from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. This project aims to help the twin city establish a system to combat air pollution and noise pollution and to raise awareness among young people about sustainable development.
For now, the mapping of noise pollution is being finalized. An action on the ground is planned for spring 2022, as soon as the noise pollution diagnosis is established.
The Secretary General of the AIMF—International Association of Francophone Mayors—donated sound sensors powered by photovoltaic panels.
This meeting also provided an opportunity for the mayor of Nice and the minister-governor of Abidjan to discuss the economic cooperation between the two cities. They notably mentioned “an enhancement of exchanges through the training of startups from the Abidjan incubator by the CEEI of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area.”
