Christian PASSUELLO, filmmaker:
“Over the past twenty years, the practice of documentary filmmaking has become a way of life.
Issues of production, connecting with others, narrative construction, financing, or desire are part of my daily life.
Whatever the themes tackled—flamenco music, cannabis, childhood, identity, or memory—in the end, what happens to others also happens to me. Even when I’m not filming, I’m always a filmmaker.”
There is, however, another lesser-known filmmaker who has already made his mark in this style that could quite possibly be the Nissardan touch, halfway between documentary and fiction, tra realità e pantalh: Christian Passuello.
Author of the cult classic “Going Back to Nissa la Bella”, the more recent “Garibaldi: Made in Nissa”, as well as many other reports (from Fadoli d’oli on Nice’s olive oil to Manitas de Plata, covering cannabis, Bonson, and the Nice school), Christian Passuello advances step by step, far from television marketing.
In fact, it’s close to a complete lack of communication and that’s truly unfortunate. Indeed, what a surprise it was to discover more than one film about Nissa and the County that we had never heard of while snooping around his personal website.
Yet, Christian Passuello forges his path, and his productions often air on France 3, which broadcasted his latest production: The Four Seasons of the Provence Railway on the Train des Pignes.
