The Christmas illuminations in Nice this year will be themed around purity and snow, with white being the dominant color. The central theme will be “La Belle Époque.” All nine areas of Nice will be involved, with the activities having a more harmonious direction. Each neighborhood will have its highlights, offering an eclectic Christmas for everyone and all tastes. The Promenade du Paillon will essentially be the backbone of these festivities, transformed into a promenade of lights with the revival of the Casino de la Jetée Promenade on the water mirror.
From Place Masséna with its Christmas village to Place Garibaldi, this green corridor will link different locations without breaking the festive spirit. As for the theme, we find ourselves at the beginning of the last century, where La Belle Époque is brought back to us with its atmosphere and carefreeness.
The challenge is to make the city a celebration, ensuring that these festivities remain in memories. The Théâtre de Nice will feature sound and light shows on its courtyard, showcasing Nice’s monuments.
Place Rossetti will host a live nativity scene, and there will be a tour organized by the friends of the nativity scene in Rue Alexandre Mari. Music, opera, and the conservatory embody a true city-wide celebration for all the residents of Nice. The Quai des États-Unis will provide an equestrian circuit with ponies for the younger audience.
For the city to be a celebration, its lights must shine everywhere. Thus, Gare du Sud will pay tribute to Hervé Gourdel with a photo exhibition. Parc Phoenix will be lively with inflatable structures and a little train.
As every year, Santa Claus has done things right, and the children of Nice will be able to drop off their letters in four mailboxes located at different corners of the city. All these festivities will begin on December 6th and end on January 4th, 2015. Nice will be adorned in Christmas colors, a white city surrounded by its snow-covered peaks.
