Arriving this summer on the Nice bench, the former Lille Coach, reigning French champion, received an exceptional award.
This Wednesday, Christophe Galtier, the coach of OGC Nice, was named โManager of the Year 2021โ by the Club of Sports & Management Trophies Leaders. The 55-year-old coach traveled to the capital for the occasion at the Hรดtel de Lassay, at the National Assembly, where he was presented with this more than logical distinction after winning the French championship last year. For the Nice coach, it is more than a reward; it is above all a symbolic and human acknowledgment:
“I have received some trophies in my coaching career, but receiving the best manager award is special because being a manager is above all about humanity. Itโs a sharing experience. Managing is always about associating performance with the human aspect. If a person is not happy, not comfortable in their own skin, they cannot be a high-level athlete or a high-performing player. Managing is something I truly love because we evolve together in a human adventure. Obviously, one must be motivating, exude a certain calmness, but above all, one must be fair. Knowing who we really have in front of us. And often, we find out by looking where one doesn’t expect usโฆ” he stated in his speech after receiving the award.
