The Council of Ministers has appointed Christophe Mirmand as Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes. Christophe Mirmand, (51 years on July 22), was previously Prefect of Savoie, a position he held since May 2010. He succeeds Jean-Michel Drevet in this role.
Prefect coming, Prefect going. It’s the dance of the spoil system that each applies in their turn.
And this time it is Prefect Drevet’s turn, whose closeness with the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, raised eyebrows, to make way for a colleague who the ‘rumors’ consider in line with the current majority.
This explaining that, the statements of Eric Ciotti and Patrick Allemand leave a regret for one and satisfaction for the other.
Let’s hope that, in this legitimate opposition, no one forgets that the Prefect represents the State and its interests (that means, all of us!!).
- Eric Ciotti commends the actions taken by Jean-Michel Drevet and welcomes Prefect Christophe Mirmand
“Today, at the end of the Council of Ministers, the appointment of Mr. Christophe Mirmand, Prefect of Savoie, as Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes was announced. I welcome him to our department.
I wish to commend the work carried out in the Alpes-Maritimes by his predecessor Jean-Michel Drevet.
We continued with him some structuring actions, notably in the rationalization of intercommunalities or security.
A man of the field, close and respectful of the elected officials, he also managed in an exemplary way the organization of a major world event: the G20 last November, ensuring with great professionalism, on this occasion, the maintenance of public order.
He was also particularly involved in security issues, showing commitment to good collaboration between all law enforcement agencies, with the establishment of agreements between municipal police and national police or national gendarmerie.
Jean-Michel Drevet is a great servant of the State.”
Eric CIOTTI, Deputy, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes
-New Prefect in Alpes-Maritimes: change is now!
I welcome the government’s decision to appoint a new Prefect in Alpes-Maritimes. I have wished for the departure of the previous Prefect several times. He disregarded the republican dialogue during the debate on the Departmental Scheme of Intermunicipal Cooperation and the Metropolis and, until the end, with the signing of the DUP of tram line 2, acted biased, serving the interests of a single man, Christian ESTROSI.
I wish his successor welcome to the Alpes-Maritimes, hoping he will restore republican principles in a department where they sometimes struggle to be applied and will restore the full meaning to the notion of public interest.
Patrick Allemand, 1st Vice-President of the Regional Council, President of the “Changer d’Ere” group at the Nice Municipal Council
