The 7th edition of Cinéalma follows in the footsteps of previous editions, with some new features this year. The programming maintains its strong roots in the Mediterranean basin while also offering a glimpse into other regions of the world, particularly focusing on Latin America (Elefante Blanco).
From October 12 to 21, the screen at Juliette Greco Hall in Carros will showcase 29 films, including 12 premieres and 8 unreleased films from 14 countries (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Bosnia, Argentina).
In light of the upheavals in the Arab world, Cinéalma pays tribute to Tunisia this year. It is an opportunity to better understand the issues and challenges and to discover new filmmakers. The films programmed highlight the diversity of Tunisian cinematic creativity. Meetings with the filmmakers at the end of the screenings and during the roundtable dedicated to the links between the revolution, culture, and cinema will offer opportunities for exchange and enrichment.
The eagerly awaited event will allow the audience to meet several prestigious guests with whom they can exchange and debate (Narjiss Nejjar, Fernando Trueba, Andrea Segre, Ridha Behi, Jilani Saadi, Pippo Mezzapesa…).
This year, the Moroccan director Narjiss Nejjar will be the festival’s patron. She will present her film L’amante du Rif at the opening, which will captivate us with its beautiful cinematography, rich storyline, and quality of direction.
Cinematic creativity often draws its inspiration from the upheavals that our societies experience.
