Costa-Gavras will be in Nice today to present a complete collection of his films from 1965 to 1983, released to mark his 50-year career anniversary.

Costa-Gavras and Michèle Ray-Gavras will be at Fnac at 5:30 PM for a meeting followed by a public signing session.

Then, at the Cinémathèque (at 8:00 PM), Costa-Gavras and Michèle Gavras will present his first feature film, Compartiments tueurs (1965 – 89 min).

Born Constantin Gavras in Arcadia on February 13, 1933, Costa-Gavras is one of the most awarded French filmmakers: two OSCARS, a GOLDEN BEAR, a PALME D’OR, and numerous awards and nominations worldwide.

With political films that have spanned generations, Costa-Gavras has tackled urgent contemporary issues, such as the coup by General Pinochet in Missing, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Hanna K., the oppressive Vichy law in Special Section, and the Stalinist trials in The Confession.

With remarkable rigor and effectiveness like a political thriller, the cinema of Costa-Gavras fiercely explores the complexity of man’s relationship with power.
