From August 27 to 31, the City of Nice had the privilege of becoming the world capital of cycling by hosting the Grand Départ of the 2020 Tour de France. On this occasion, a number of events allowed people to fully experience this great event.
In this context, journalist Julien Camy took us back to one of the most remarkable episodes of the Grande Boucle with the screening of the documentary “The Melancholic King, the Legend of René Vietto,” yesterday afternoon at the Nice Opera House.
This film tells the extraordinary journey of René Vietto, who was one of the greatest French athletes from 1930 to 1947. Born in 1914 in Le Cannet-Rocheville, René Vietto is remembered in the history of the Tour de France as a great climber, winner of 6 Tour de France stages, and wearer of the yellow jersey for 26 days (a record without having won the Tour), but he never brought the yellow jersey to Paris.
