1. Plancha by Eric Lavaine
This new French comedy is the sequel to the classic Barbecue, released in 2014. We find the famous team eight years later, right in the heart of Brittany. Thus, we have the pleasure of seeing the star-studded cast from the first film again, notably including Guillaume de Tonquรฉdec, Franck Dubosc, Lambert Wilson, and Jรฉrรดme Commandeur. We hope for a lively comedy as it should be.
2. Cairo Conspiracy by Tarik Saleh
A change of tone with this film that received the Best Screenplay Award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of Adam, the son of a humble fisherman, who joins the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo. He finds himself in the middle of a ruthless power struggle between the country’s religious and political elites. With its stunning visuals, the film also promises a gripping narrative at the heart of the Egyptian capital.
3. Masquerade by Nicolas Bedos
Here is Nicolas Bedos’s new film following La Belle รpoque and the third installment of OSS 117. We find Pierre Niney in the title role, who falls for a talented con artist played by Isabelle Adjani. Together, they concoct an audacious plan to shake up the landscape of our beloved Cรดte d’Azur. This dramatic and romantic comedy promises to be very sultry, with its whimsical theme featuring a pair of swindlers.
4. The School’s Ours by Alexandre Castagnetti
In this film, the talented Sarah Suco plays a math teacher who takes advantage of a general strike to try an experiment. For one day, she gives her students free rein, as if they owned the school. This comedy promises to be particularly touching with this group of carefree youths. The excellent Jean-Pierre Darroussin also stars.
5. Amsterdam by David O. Russell
To conclude, we present this crime drama with an exceptional trio of actors: Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington. This film, with its particularly polished cinematography, immerses us in what promises to be an extravagant plot. The trio’s characters light up the screen thanks to the talents of these legendary actors. A must-see film.
