When it’s Wednesday, it’s movie day. Today, we present our selection of films for the week, to guide you in the best way possible in the dark theaters.
1. Gran Turismo by Neill Blomkamp
Jann Mardenborough dreams of becoming a professional race car driver. Not having the financial means to enter one of the world’s most elite sports, he pursues his passion behind a screen, playing Gran Turismo. He is one of the best players in the world at this video game, an achievement that will give him the opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream. Once on the track, behind the wheel, coached by Jack Salter, a retired former driver, he applies all the knowledge he has gained playing, except that the risks on a real circuit are different… A true story with David Harbour, Jamie Kenna, and Orlando Bloom.
2. The Royal Path by Frédéric Mermoud
Sophie is a brilliant high school student. Her parents, owners of a farm, already plan for her a well-defined future in agro-industry. Her mathematics teacher spots her talents and encourages her to join a scientific preparatory class, the royal path. The teenager leaves her rural area and faces a demanding and elitist system. Through new encounters, failures, and successes, she sees new perspectives opening up for her. Her goal now is to enter Polytechnique.
3. A Masterstroke by Rémi Bezançon
Renzo Nervi is a painter, but he has struggled to sell his paintings for several years and has lost the desire to create, to the point of having dark thoughts. Arthur Forestier, owner of an art gallery, represents the artist. The two individuals work together but are mainly longtime friends, bonded by their love of art. Although he is in full decline, the gallery owner refuses to give up and is determined to defend him with all his heart, even if it means putting in place a most radical plan to revive Renzo Nervi’s career.
4. Turbulence Zone(s) by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson
They have an uncontrollable fear of flying. Sarah, a businesswoman based in London, is among these phobics. To save her new romantic relationship, she decides it’s time to confront her greatest fear, which has become a real handicap. She enrolls in an intensive course, a program titled “Fearless Flyers“, which promises to cure her and a small group of people all terrified of the idea of flying. Immediate boarding for Iceland for a flight that will hold some unpleasant surprises for them…
5. Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years by Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears
The famous franchise is back with an animated film that will delight both young and old. Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael form a brotherhood like no other. The teenagers are giant mutant turtles who grew up in the sewers of New York, raised by a father who is also giant but of a different species; he is a rat. The four brothers dream of integrating into the human world and being accepted as normal teenagers. So they have a plan: tackling the city’s criminals to be seen as superheroes.
