As we explained in the article about Disney, the company with the big ears releases all its films directly on their Disney+ platform. After the release of “Mulan” a few weeks ago, it’s now “Soul’s” turn to make its appearance.
First animated film directly on streaming
The animated film “Soul” will be the cinematic forefront for the holiday season. A streaming exclusive that will be available this Friday, December 25th at 10 a.m. French time. Created by the makers of “Inside Out,” “Up,” and “Coco,” this feature film continues the trend of addressing mature topics within a child-like universe. Previous creations have moved many viewers to tears and Soul is likely to follow suit.
Synopsis
Joe Gardner is a music teacher at a middle school and a passionate jazz enthusiast. One fine day, he gets the chance to fulfill one of his dreams, which is to play at the best jazz club in New York. Unfortunately, a misstep takes him to the “Great Before,” a place where new souls acquire their personalities and traits before being sent to Earth. In search of his life, Joe might discover even more important answers about the meaning of life.
An experience for both young and old
This new addition from Disney-Pixar studios deals with death and, more specifically, the life of souls after death. These animated films have always been excellent gateways for children to understand the world around them. A first experience well explained and narrated from start to finish. Let us not forget that animated works are not only intended for children but also for teenagers and adults. I recommend revisiting films from your childhood to compare your two perspectives on the work.
The voice actors for France
In the French-speaking dubbing, you can hear Omar Sy as Joe Gardner, and Camille Cottin for 22, who are both the main characters of the story. In supporting roles, Ramzy Bedia and Françoise Cadol will voice alongside the protagonists.
It should be noted that the film was selected for the 2020 Cannes Festival in the animation film category.
