The numerous postponements of blockbusters during the year 2020 due to the global pandemic offer 2021 a more than bright outlook. Naturally, this observation is made on the assumption that no further delays will be announced.
If we experienced a very sparse year in 2020 in terms of big-budget feature films, the coming months are likely to be historic in terms of cinema attendance. For this to happen, it would of course be necessary for the spread of the virus to decrease and for theaters to reopen their doors to the largest audiences. However, we are trying to envision an easing of the situation.
5. No Time to Die (March 31, 2021)
After nearly an entire year of delay, the next installment in the adventures of James Bond continues to raise the hopes of fans of the most famous secret agent in the world of cinema. Furthermore, this episode marks the departure of Daniel Craig, who leaves behind a legacy of five appearances between 2006 and 2021. Who better to succeed James Bond than the actor most involved in his spectacular stunts, Tom Cruise? At 58, he never ceases to impress us, and his latest role in Mission Impossible: Fallout only proves that further. It is also this episode that many consider the most successful in the saga that began 25 years ago.

In the span of a few weeks, the new adventures of the web-slinger have become one of the most ambitious projects of recent years, even competing directly with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. The reason is due to a subtlety of phase 4, which will disrupt the Marvel universe: an expanded multiverse involving the three Spider-Men. Tobey Maguire from the early 2000s trilogy, Andrew Garfield in the Amazing duology (2012-2014), and the newcomer Tom Holland, who has worn the suit since 2016. A project dreamed of by many fans, finally coming to fruition and giving a second wind to the Marvel cinematic universe.
2. Matrix 4 (December 22, 2021)
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss on the set of Matrix 4
Matrix is the trilogy that elevated the world of blockbusters at the dawn of the 21st century. Revolutionary technological processes and original direction catapulted the franchise to the pantheon of cinema. This is also why this film is the one we are most concerned about. Such a long gap between two installments and the evolution of cinema since Matrix Revolutions in 2003 could impact the final result. Lana Wachowski will need to be highly creative to update her vision of the matrix and her direction.
