As part of its GREEN Deal policy, the Alpes-Maritimes Department hosted two international climate experts for a conference debate on the evolution of climate in the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, following the latest IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report: Mr. Jean-Pierre Gattuso, CNRS research director at the Villefranche-sur-Mer Oceanography Laboratory, and Ms. Corinne Le Quรฉrรฉ, President of the High Council for the Climate.
This conference provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the climate issues in the Mediterranean and the mountains, as well as to foster a greater openness to actions that need to be taken across the entire territory.
Aware of the environmental challenges facing our planet, the Department recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Climate Energy Plan, which has shown encouraging results for the future. Furthermore, the community has consistently encouraged the most active private, public, or citizen actors in the field of technological and energy innovation with the Climate Plan Trophies. This year, 53 trophies were awarded to recognize excellence in the Cรดte d’Azur region in areas such as urban planning, energy, transportation, biodiversity, public awareness, and sustainable development…
More broadly, the Department presented its new Green Deal 2020-2024 last November, in the presence of Louis Bodin, a meteorologist and president of the GREEN Deal 06 Expert Committee.
Climate change is already a reality. The aim of all these GREEN Deal actions is to prepare the Alpes-Maritimes for the future so that the entire population can enjoy the best possible quality of life.
