Closing ceremony: presentation of the “Golden Mimosas” and the Medal of Honor of the City of Nice to Liron Levo

This Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Fine Arts Museum, during this ceremony attended by Barnรฉa Hassid, Consul General of Israel in Marseille, the guest of honor and patron of the Festival, Liron Levo, the favorite actor of Amos Gitai, Rudy Salles, Deputy for Tourism and International Relations, will present the โ€œGolden Mimosaโ€ to the best selected feature and short films.

niff_2012.jpg After the speeches by the esteemed guests, Liron Levo will be presented with the Medal of Honor of the City of Nice by Rudy Salles.

The films in competition, all unreleased and in original version with French subtitles, are as follows:

Feature films: The Matchmaker by Avi Nesher, This is Sodom by Adam Sanderson and Muli Segev, The Inner Grammar by Nir Bergman, The Fifth Heaven by Dina Zvi Ricklis, Mabul by Guy Nattiv.

Short films: Moving Pictures by Nadav Nachmany and Dror Shpatz, Through The Window by Chen Shumowitz, Ben is Back by Elad Zakaรฏ, Barrier by Eyal Elkevity, Passing Noise by Udi Kagan, Thicker than Water by Mor Yogev, Good Guy by Noam Yellinek.

A major cultural event in the city of Nice, the Nice Israel Film Festival confirms its success with the public, attracting more than 10,000 spectators. In addition to an eclectic program, it offers a selection of short films showcasing young Israeli directors.

Uncompromising cinema, a depiction of customs, highlighting the issues of a society undergoing significant changes, torn between tradition and modernity, Israeli cinema also gives a large part to humor, emotion, and self-deprecation. Recognized internationally, this innovative cinema is now collecting awards worldwide, like at the last Cannes Film Festival: Best Screenplay Award and Oscar nomination for Footnote, by Joseph Cedar.
