4th Festival for Discovering Performing Arts for Children: “The Great Kids’ Festival”

Festival closing on Wednesday, April 27, 2011
Meet at 11 AM
Free activities and shows in the Gardens of the Cimiez Arenas

This year again, this festival, popular with the public since 2008, brought together over 1,000 spectators across 19 shows, around ten workshops, activities, or events offered in 20 Animation and Leisure Centers, municipal or associative theaters, including Théâtre de la Tour, the Blackbox, Scène 114, Théâtre de La Semeuse, the Stephane Grappelli Hall at the Cimiez CEDAC, Théâtre de la Cité, and Forum Nice Nord. 23 different companies touched the hearts of the young and old spectators (and actors!) of this festival.

The 2011 edition aimed to:

  • Strengthen the offerings in the outskirts with the addition of shows or workshops in the La Vallière, La Madeleine, Saint-Pancrace, Vallon des Fleurs neighborhoods.
  • Continue developing content with special attention to magic, allowing children to escape and marvel.

  • Use the “performing arts” tool to raise awareness among children and youth about sustainable development issues with a show on the 27th of April on the Oliviers stage at the Cimiez arenas.

  • Create a “playful village” during the Great Kids’ Festival.

On April 27, children and their parents are invited to the gardens of the Cimiez arenas to enjoy an educational and fun day with numerous workshops and shows strolling or on the Oliviers Stage:

  • Workshops for discovering percussion, circus arts, scientific techniques, and traditional wooden games.
  • Animations around magic, books, storytelling, and even butterflies!

  • Musician or stilt-walker artists strolling through the gardens and paths of the park,

  • Costumed characters who will eagerly pose for photos with the children!

Finally, two shows will be performed on the Oliviers stage:

11:00 AM: “Show on Recycling”

Léonardo, a very eco-friendly little boy, has decided to conduct an investigation: have the people in his neighborhood understood all the small recycling gestures that are so important to him? The results are quite good! Léonardo feels very pleased… until he receives an unusually original letter from the mysterious and eccentric Blue Fairy, who announces that the whole Earth is in danger…
For children aged 5 to 12 – Duration 45 minutes

2:30 PM – Matisse Stage: “Concert for the Kids, Let’s Dance!”

The kids will swing with the dance led spiritedly by Catherine Fontaine and Marie. A vibrant and invigorating atmosphere like only they have the secret to creating; delicious “boogie booga”, swaying calypso, catastrophic swing, funny rock, wacky folk, astral pop, waddling biguine, cha-cha-cha, and all the trimmings!
Duration 60 minutes

A fantastic day to share with the family!
