For the second consecutive year, the ship Club Med 2 wins the FRCC Green Award from the French Riviera Cruise Club.
The award was presented to Captain Benoit Donne yesterday afternoon at the port of Nice. This trophy rewards the ship that most respects the environment in the five ports of the FRCC (Cannes, Golfe Juan, Antibes, Nice, and Villefranche-sur-Mer) based on four criteria: noise and smoke, waste management, environmental approach, and maritime environment. The winner will also benefit from a discount on its stopovers next year.
For Captain Donne, the environment is “a priority because energy savings have a significant impact.” He continues: “Modernizing equipment comes at a cost, of course, but it is amortized over the long term because energy consumption is lower and the equipment lasts longer.” The sails, which are distinctive to the Club Med 2 ship, attract attention, but more from the “aesthetic” side according to Benoit Donne.
