If the weather in Nice wasn’t kind this weekend, the clubs from Nice shone. Stade Niçois secured an important victory, the ONN Water Polo continued its great series, and Nice Volley achieved a feat in Poitiers. For the skiers from Nice, the World Championships in Vail were dismal.
Rugby: Stade Niçois triumphs in the mud of Aubagne
Stade Niçois secured an important victory on the field of Aubagne 19-10 in very difficult conditions (rain, wind, muddy field). Trailing at halftime (10-0 for Aubagne), the Niçois turned the situation around with an impressive second half. With this victory, Stade Niçois climbs to 4th place in the Pool 3 rankings with a one-point lead over Saint-Savin and a one-point deficit to Bedarrides. The next match is next Sunday against Monteux, currently at the bottom of the table.

Water Polo: ONN easily wins in Sète
The water polo players of Olympic Nice Natation confirmed their good form with a wide victory in the pool of Sète, 17-11. The Niçois remain in the 3rd position in the standings behind the two untouchables, Marseille and Montpellier. The best defense in ProA, ONN gave the Sétois no chance by taking the lead quickly in the match: 4-2 at the end of the first period and then 9-6 at halftime. They then sped up to lead 13-7 at the end of the third period.
Ski: Mixed World Championships for the Niçois
The overall performance of Niçois skiers at the Vail-Beaver Creek World Championships was mediocre. Slalom skier Nastasia Noens, who was injured for much of the winter, achieved the best performance of the games with a 9th place thanks to a top-level second run. In her first full year on the major circuit, Margot Bailet showed promising signs, particularly in the combined event with a 10th place. In the speed events, she finished much further back: 21st in downhill and 23rd in Super-G. It was a nightmare scenario for Mathieu Faivre, who was in great form this winter. The Niçois skier made an early exit after about thirty seconds during the first run of the giant slalom. “Going back is impossible. The best solution is to look ahead! These World Championships were brief! Work, never give up so there will be more remains the only constructive thing to do!” the slalom skier posted on Facebook.
