CocoRosie is a North American psych-folk band formed in 2003, centered around two sisters: Bianca (“Coco”) and Sierra (“Rosie”) Casady. They create music that blends operatic singing, gospel, and low-fi pop. Their highly poetic world is filled with the sounds of water, pans, or children’s toys. Sierra plays the guitar, flute, harp, and sings. Bianca is a percussionist and also sings. Their debut album, “La maison de mon rรชve,” made waves with its gentle, dreamy strangeness. The second album, “Noahโ€™s Ark,” released in 2005, was produced with the help of talented friends from the new indie-pop-rock scene such as Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Devendra Banhart, and Spleen. With the release of their third album in 2007, “The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn,” the Casady sisters opened their universe to new influences: namely Hip-hop tinted rhythms, where they now make greater use of their friend and designated beatboxer, Tez. This album is in the form of a fairy tale. They are now nicknamed the “Cousins of Bjรถrk.”
