Cœur de Pirate is a young Quebecer named Béatrice Martin, who has been playing the piano since the age of 3. With five years of conservatory studies under her belt, she began composing her own songs in March 2007.
The overflow of emotions experienced by the young artist at that time is conveyed through the fragility of her voice, which even melts the hardest hearts. The voice and music (piano, banjo, guitar, tambourine, violins, occasional drums) resonate with undeniable grace with words sometimes serious. At 19, she already has much to say about feelings, solitude, a gentle audacity…
In short, an authentic revelation who claims to love winter, summer, black, white, Debussy, Basquiat, La Cumparsita, modern dance… All things seemingly unrelated except for the connection she weaves in her songs, made of contrasts she reconciles with a disconcerting ease.
