Her name may not ring a bell… yet you’ve most likely already had her “work” in your hands: “La femme parfaite est une connasse.” A bestseller from 2013 (and again in 2015 with the release of the second volume).
This little book intended for the modern woman, sold over a million copies, was co-written by Anne-Sophie Girard and her twin sister Marie-Aldine Girard. Complementary, the two sisters work in two radically different fields. While her twin is the editor-in-chief of the very serious Ce soir (ou jamais), Anne-Sophie Girard is an actress!
Born in 1981 in Montpellier, Anne-Sophie Girard took theater classes from age 14 to 18 at the Théâtre de la Graine and then honed her craft at the improvisation workshop “Les Thélémites.” At 20, Anne-Sophie Girard left the south to move to Paris to complete her acting training at the Cours Florent, where she stayed for three years.
She was only 23 when she wrote her first play “Zé oublié quelque chose” with Arek Gurunian. They portrayed a couple of roommates, him a physical therapist and her an artist, coming from two worlds that couldn’t be more different but are united by their apartment. They performed in Paris for two years, then toured in Switzerland and France until 2009. In 2006, Anne-Sophie performed at the Comédie République theatre with the comedy play “Nos mecs, nos régimes, nos emmerdes!” In 2008, she appeared in the Disney Channel series “Tranches de Vie” as well as in the short program “Que du bonheur!” on TF1. In the same year, Anne-Sophie Girard co-wrote with Raphaël Ferret the play “Miss camping, premier drame en tongs.” The play tells the story of a campsite entertainer who learns that he won’t be hosting the famous end-of-season Miss Camping contest. Instead, his idol, a star from the small screen, will take his place.
In 2009, Anne-Sophie wrote for radio and TV, including Yassine Belattar’s show “On achève bien l’info” on France 4 and the morning show on Le Mouv’. She took on numerous roles on television in “Notre Dame des Barjots” on France 2, “Aline Nevers, le juge est une femme” on TF1, “La Vraie Vie d’Omar et Fred” on Canal +, and “Profilage” on TF1.
Since 2010, Anne-Sophie has been performing her one-woman show “Anne-Sophie Girard fait sa crâneuse” at Le Bout café-theater. She participated in the comedy festival “L’Humour en capitales” alongside Tony Saint-Laurent, William Gay, Bérangère Krief, Sébastien Giray, and Jeff Panacloc. A good friend and companion, Anne-Sophie Girard has been part of the “Connasse Comedy Club” since 2011 alongside Christine Berrou, Bérengère Krief, and Nadia Roz, where the four young women share the best of their own one-woman shows and new sketches. She joined the Jamel Comedy Club in season 5 on Canal +. From September to December 2012, the young woman appeared every Thursday on “Fidèle au poste!” on France 4 with Shirley Souagnon or Baptiste Lecaplain. The show, hosted by Bruno Guillon, featured two teams of comedians competing in games, accompanied by two guest stars.
She also appeared in two short programs: “Bref” by Kyan Khojandi on Canal + and “Roxane” on Chérie 25. She landed a recurring role in the series “C’est la crise!” broadcast on Comédie +, featuring among others Anne Roumanoff, Claudia Tagbo, Arnaud Ducret, and Caroline Vigneaux.
