On the occasion of this day of commemorating the abolition of slavery, actions in favor of the duty of remembrance and education in citizenship are being implemented, particularly in schools.
The objective is to encourage students’ civic reflection on the respect for human dignity and the concept of crimes against humanity.
This year, the Aimé Césaire and Saint Charles schools will follow a program that includes a musical performance, interactive songs and dances on the theme “freedom,” an Afro-continental dance performance, and the screening of a documentary on Léopold Sédar Senghor produced by Senegalese Radio Television (50 min).
A buffet entitled “Flavors from Here and Elsewhere” will conclude the day.
