Competitiveness Pact: When State Representatives Meet Economic Stakeholders

Latest News

Listening and education are the key words resulting from the meeting between the Prefect of the PACA Region, Hugues Parlant, accompanied by the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Christophe Mirmand, during the meeting with the economic decision-makers of the Côte d’Azur convened by Bernard Kleynhoff at the consular chamber.

It is known that the method is not neutral when one wants to advance things and that sometimes the psychological aspect is not without influence on the application of a law and the approach of the stakeholders to obtain the best result.

In this case, it was also about clearly explaining the ins and outs of a strategy that includes several components with modulation based on intervention axes according to the specific characteristics of each regional and even departmental socio-economic fabric.

The visit to Nice by Prefect Parant was greatly appreciated by the business leaders of the Côte d’Azur, sensitive to this attention: Having someone in front of you who explains and answers your questions is far preferable to reading and interpreting a circular!

Some 35 concrete measures in favor of growth, competitiveness, and employment are the pillars of this “pact,” which focuses particularly on reducing labor costs, stimulating innovation and exportation, and supporting youth employment.

These actions serve as a response to the challenge of restoring the competitiveness of the economy and, with the aided jobs (such as future jobs and generation contracts), aim to be an initial response to the major problem of job scarcity (even if the vocation of Nice and its region leans more towards tourism and real estate, which have suffered less from the current crisis’s effects than the industrial sector).

Going from defense to attack by using the growth levers provided by the ‘pact’ is the exhortation of the State’s representative to the economic world: will it have been heard?
