Computing has found its doctor in Old Nice.

Nice Premium: Guillaume, how did the idea of setting up your company (Vieux Nice PC) in Old Nice come about?

Guillaume Larosa: First of all, I am myself a resident of Old Nice and very attached to this neighborhood. We didn’t have any IT services in the old town, so the choice was natural. The proximity and the “village atmosphere” allow me to be attentive to people and to react as quickly as possible. It was also an opportunity to develop a “real service” for the residents and shopkeepers of Old Nice (which is, unfortunately, something that’s disappearing).

NP: What are the most common problems you encounter with individuals and professionals?

GL: Most often, they are problems related to viruses and spyware that pollute the web. I also deal with all sorts of varied issues, from internet connection to the replacement of faulty parts. It’s a very diverse profession.

NP: Is IT also affected by the crisis?

GL: Yes, of course, IT is a prime consumer product. People who do not use their computers professionally are reluctant to spend money if it is not vital for their machine.
At this level, I offer a flat rate pricing rather than hourly billing. The rates are fixed and calculated based on the intervention. This allows customers to know exactly what they will pay and to plan their expenses.

NP: What services do you offer?

GL: I offer complete IT assistance at home. The goal is so the client never needs to travel. My services include all types of troubleshooting and assistance, virus disinfection, sale of spare parts, custom computer manufacturing tailored to the use and budget of each client, networking of multiple computers, as well as computer training courses to learn the basics. You can easily find detailed information on all the services I offer on my website, “www.vieux-nice-pc.fr.”

NP: Finally, any projects in the pipeline?

GL: Indeed, I would like to develop a new concept of miniature multimedia computers. A casing the size of a sugar box connected to an HD TV screen, controlled by a simple wireless mouse, which would be both a real PC (with everything it includes), but also a DVD player/recorder and above all an audio/video/photo/video game “jukebox,” with large storage capacity (1000 GB). It would save a lot of space in our living rooms and also provide full multimedia access on a single device. Stay tuned…
