Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 4 PM, the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor of Alpes-Maritimes is organizing an event at the Nice Opera.
Bonaparte, as First Consul, created the Legion of Honor in 1802 to reward outstanding services rendered to the nation, both militarily and civilly. He wanted this distinction to be one of the cornerstones of national cohesion as the country emerged from a troubled period.
This event aims to contribute to the influence and prestige of the Order of the Legion of Honor, particularly by introducing its values—physical and moral courage, dedication, a taste for effort, a sense of responsibility, and love for France—to the youth, as well as by promoting manual work and the technical track of National Education.
Four students from Les Palmiers High School in Nice will be rewarded for their seriousness and excellence in their work.
