Conference at the Italian Consulate as part of the 150th anniversary of Nice’s annexation to France

jpg_nava.jpg As part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, which began on May 5, the date commemorating the departure of the Thousand Expedition led by Giuseppe Garibaldi from Genoa Quarto, and the Turin agreements between the House of Savoy and the French Empire allowing the County of Nice to become French, a conference will be held at the Italian Consulate to present to the public the book “La gloria รจ il sole dei morti” (Glory is the Sun of the Dead) written by Massimo Nava, journalist and writer, already the author of numerous historical works.

This book is dedicated to Nino Bixio, the right-hand man of Giuseppe Garibaldi and his political advisor, who, along with his two brothers, accompanied the Hero of the Two Worlds in the Garibaldian adventure against the Royal House of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, which allowed the House of Savoy to unify the Italian populations and establish the Kingdom of Italy.

In the company of the author, the theme will be debated with Mr. Agostino Chiesa Alciator, Consul General of Italy in Nice, Ambassador Francesco Caruso, Mr. Leonardo Saviano, Professor of the History of Political Doctrines at the University Federico II of Naples, and Mr. Louis Pairault, Director of the Municipal Archives of the City of Nice.
