Conference at the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum: “Building Differently” by Françoise-Hélène Jourda, a pioneer in sustainable architecture.

As major renovation projects are underway with a major focus on sustainable development, it is interesting to welcome one of the most specialized architects in this field to Nice.

jourda.jpg “Build to meet the needs of others and integrate into the environment” is the motto of Françoise-Hélène JOURDA, an architect and teacher, recognized in France as a spokesperson for sustainable architecture.

She advocates for a responsible practice of the profession through a technological, societal, and individual breakthrough. The multiple recognitions received in recent years commend her tenacity as an eco-responsible architect.

Having actively participated in the Grenelle de l’environnement, she supports the idea of thermal renovations that should also be imposed on old buildings.

She discusses the idea of “healing the city,” like a body for which a global balance should be found by modifying flows and energies.

Her fight for sustainable architecture is inseparable from the role she assigns to her profession and wishes to pass on to her students: “the only true motivation of an architect should be to ‘build a better world’.

This Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 6:30 PM at the MAMAC auditorium – Promenade des Arts
