A symposium titled “André Malraux and Asia” follows the one held on February 9, 2009, at the Guime Museum of Asian Arts, the proceedings of which have just been published in the Review “Presence of André Malraux,” issue 8/9 – 2011, journal of the International Friends of André Malraux Association.

The presentations were filmed, and a DVD produced by Mrs. Anne IMBERT will be screened during the meeting organized by the Clémentine Academy, which Mrs. Imbert will attend, along with Mr. Pierre COUREUX, President of the International Friends of André Malraux.

The afternoon will proceed as follows:

· 2:30 PM: opening of the symposium, Linné Hall, Phoenix Park, next to the museum.

· 3:00 PM: screening of the DVD

· 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM: presentations by speakers and questions from the audience.

Speakers:

· Mrs. Anne IMBERT, author, director, producer (notably of the film “Malraux and Asia” which will be screened)

· Mrs. Marie-Sophie DOUDET, professor of modern literature, author of a thesis on Malraux and Art.

· Mrs. Isabelle MAEGHT, granddaughter of Aimé Maeght. André Malraux, then Minister of Culture, inaugurated the Maeght Foundation in Saint Paul in 1964. He presented there in 1973 the exhibition dedicated to his “Imaginary Museum.”

· Mr. Olivier KAEPPELIN, Director of the Maeght Foundation.

· Mr. Charles WANG ZEN KI, Administrator of the International Friends of André Malraux, author of a dissertation on Malraux and China and a thesis on Malraux and Asian art and spirituality.

Each of them will discuss one of the multiple facets of Malraux, including his fusion, intellectual, historical, political, and philosophical connections with Asia. Mrs. Maeght will talk about the man she knew as a child, who was a great friend of her family.
