The Franco-German Cultural Center is organizing a conference this Monday at 7 PM at its headquarters, 20 rue Citรฉ du Parc (Quai des Etats-Unis), with Nils Minkmar (Der Spiegel) entitled “Germany and the Return of History.”
The event marks the beginning of a series on “Europe” presented by the CCFA in cooperation with the European Movement Alpes Maritimes, running until the European elections in 2019.
Nils Minkmar is one of Germany’s most significant contemporary thinkers. The historian, author, and journalist is considered a Franco-German trailblazer. In various books and countless articles, he explains developments in France, particularly to a German-speaking audience. In 2017, the SPIEGEL author was named Cultural Journalist of the Year.
Hosted by historian Yvan Gastaut from the University of Nice, Nils Minkmar will analyze the contradictory complexity of our time from a Franco-German perspective, addressing the challenges our societies face with social polarization, euroscepticism, migration, and the far right.
