METAMORPHOSES OF ENVIRONMENTS
La Gaude Contemporary Art City
Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. in front of the Town Hall
Exhibition Saturday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

François BIREMBAUX (Savoir Contemporain), who runs a teaching and event company and teaches within the MAE Arts training program located at the Verdet space in Saint Paul de Vence, is also a creator and coordinator of contemporary art events in partnership with Sébastien DI NATALE, an artist and exhibition curator (Artnice). They have conceived and created with conviction the event “La Gaude: ‘contemporary art city’” initiated by the Mayor, Mr. Michel MEINI. However, nothing would have materialized without the unique, even rare, integrity and deeply artistic nature of Sébastien DI NATALE.

On the theme “the metamorphoses of environments,” François BIREMBAUX has strived to maintain a coherent cultural approach, integrating the virtues of regional traditions and local visions of modernity.

On October 23 and 24, 2010, young “genius-workers” express their imagination and virtuosity thanks to the dynamism of Savoir Contemporain and Artnice within the village. It’s important to recognize the trust and audacity of the mayor of La Gaude, who didn’t hesitate to transform his town into a privileged place of creativity and quality cultural innovations. How can we not emphasize that our elected officials grasp the full dimension of humanism?

Unquestionably, the event in La Gaude inaugurates a manifestation ensuring a new dialogue where art is the medium and even the catalyst. This initiative aims to restore an aesthetic value to the departmental heritage. While respecting the coherence of the local cultural identity, François BIREMBAUX and Sébastien DI NATALE pay particular attention to contemporary art programs open to mankind and its representations, society in all its complexities, civilizations tied to their demons, nature, intrinsically beautiful and terrifying, as well as the world in all its states, etc.

François BIREMBAUX and Sébastien DI NATALE also grasp the importance of local public cultural actions and proximity management strategies to protect heritage, enhance creations, enrich collections, and disseminate contemporary art by making it intelligently accessible…

To draw inspiration from the words of Professor Jean-Baptiste PISANO (who teaches art history and heritage at the UFR Lettres Arts et Sciences humaines), the meeting between politics, education, artists, and business can be “the key element of the region’s cultural and artistic vitality.”

Following the exhibition on October 23 and 24, 2010, we can speak of the strengthening of artistic involvement in municipalities and the public/private partnership around art. Boldness in creation, ambition in ideas, provocation in terms of relevance, and respect for traditions are the solid foundations of upcoming exhibitions.
