Nice-Premium published a statement yesterday from the Socialist Party concerning their support for the candidate Jacques Victor (PC) in the cantonal election in the 3rd district.
We received from André Minetto, also a candidate in the 3rd district, this statement which we are happy to publish in the interest of free and pluralistic information.
“A sterile controversy, in the realm of fantasy and without interest for the citizens of our neighborhoods”
“I regret that the cantonal campaign has spiraled into personal attacks. Personally, I have never engaged in such behavior and will not succumb to this negative attitude contrary to my principles. I engage in politics to advance ideas that I believe are essential to help us break free from the various crises in which we are entangled. And to give our region a brighter future, with the pride and brilliance it deserves. I have never claimed the support of the Socialist Party. I even wrote that the Socialist Party’s support was for the communist candidate (and outgoing general councilor) in an article on January 28 when I was informed by Jacques Victor of this false rumor. I am a candidate for Europe Ecology – The Greens, supported by the Occitan Party and the Federation of Regions and Peoples with Solidarity.
I note that there has also been no official contact between EE-LV and the PC, despite my frequent (and courteous!) meetings with Jacques Victor in the field. I think it is better to address and compare our programs and arguments to improve our fellow citizens’ lives, rather than engage in trivial politics that interests no one. And it risks further alienating our potential voters when we are all concerned about significant abstention.”
