Unfortunately, climate disruption is not unfamiliar to the Alpes-Maritimes department, which has suffered several times, including during the 2015 floods and more recently with storm Alex.
“Mitigating this climate disruption is no longer an option. It is an obligation,” began Charles-Ange Ginésy, president of the department. He continued by stating that the increase in devastating weather events and their human and economic consequences on the territory have only strengthened the commitment to this fight against climate disruption.
In his letter, the president of the department emphasized the actions already taken by the Alpes-Maritimes, such as the opening of the connected campus in Puget-Théniers, the launch of the Green Deal project call, the expansion of natural parks and hiking trails…
“The year 2022 marks an acceleration in the commitment of the Department,” added the president. Here are some of the projects that will begin this year.
- As part of the 2028 Mobility Plan, 80 km of additional paths will be developed over the next six years, thereby extending the cycling network in the region to 320 km.

The launch of the local mixed economy company, Green Energy 06, which will deploy 11 million euros over the coming years to support local renewable energy projects. A photovoltaic plant will also be installed this year in St-Auban.

Specific financial aid, up to 11,200 euros depending on income, will be implemented to support energy-efficient home renovations.
Charles-Ange Ginésy concluded by affirming that “the fight against climate change transcends political divisions.”
