The regional councilor of Paca, Philippe Vardon (National Front), was sentenced to six months of effective imprisonment for a brawl in Frรฉjus in 2014, on an election night, with three young Maghrebis, who received the same sentence as him. The fight took place on the evening of the election of FN senator-mayor David Rachline as mayor of Frรฉjus.

โ€œThe four protagonists of this brawl in public, which happened in Frรฉjus on March 30, 2014, were all sentenced to six months of effective imprisonment,โ€ specified the deputy prosecutor of Draguignan, Pierre Arpaia.

The court determined equal responsibility among the fighters.

Philippe Vardon, 36, former leader of the radical Identitarian movement in Nice, announced his intention to appeal on his Twitter account: โ€œI admit to being stunned by this absurd judgment. I will certainly appeal!โ€

“Dura lex (perhaps) sed lex” must acknowledge the regional councilor, who is now far removed from the aggressive persona of a few years ago.

While he may not have become an English baronet, he is certainly one of the more prepared and active political actors in the Nice region, whether one likes his ideas or not.

Integrated into institutions where one must adhere to a certain behavior, he has moderated his conduct, eliminating all excesses.

Certainly, he is not the man to turn the other cheek! His three opponents, themselves no choirboys as per reports, must have realized this.
