The environmental and alter-globalization associations demonstrated this Saturday for the climate cause.
Below is the text of their statement of demands.
The IPCC report released this summer confirmed, if confirmation was needed, the severity of the climate situation on a global scale.
But it’s not enough just to talk about it; we must act! And urgently!
However, this is precisely what governments are not doing, under the pressure from fossil fuel, transport, and industrial agriculture lobbies, driven by the greed for profit at the expense of health, environment, and populations.
That is why, during COP26 on a national scale, with ATTAC, more than a hundred environmental, alter-globalization, and solidarity associations with people worldwide, as well as NGOs and unions, are calling for gathering and demonstrating to demand that public authorities finally take responsibility, at all levels, from local to global.
Climate justice, people’s rights, a different future: these are the demands that will be expressed all over France.
Our mobilizations and our pressure alone are what can prevent the reckless behavior and irresponsibility of governments and lobbies, focused on production and greenhouse gas emissions!
