Covid figures continue to drop, the number of new cases remains stable. However, the number remains above 20,000 cases per day. The threshold of 70,000 deaths in France has been surpassed. Here is the Covid update…

According to the latest results from Santรฉ Publique France, 21,406 new cases have been recorded in France over the last 24 hours. The previous day, the number of deaths continued to rise: 196 deaths in one day, bringing the total death toll to 70,142.

So far, 413,046 people have been vaccinated in France, which is 24,316 more than yesterday. According to the latest health authority figures, 24,985 people are currently hospitalized with Coronavirus in France, which is 24 fewer compared to Friday, including 2,731 in intensive care.

Regarding the vaccine and deliveries, some European countries are overwhelmed with delays in the delivery of Coronavirus vaccine doses. Yet, the American group Pfizer, in partnership with BioNTech, stated this week that it will probably be impossible to deliver the quantities of doses to the 27 European Union countries each week that are intended to help defeat the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is worth remembering that the European Union ordered the delivery of 600 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Unfortunately, the 27 countries will have to wait an additional week before receiving their doses. The reasons for this delay are due to Pfizer needing to make some changes to the production chain at the Puurs factory in Belgium, which itself needs renovation. The American group specified that these changes “require additional regulatory approvals.”

The delay, initially estimated to be three or four weeks according to the German Ministry of Health, is now expected to last only one week, according to the American laboratory. A return to normal is planned from January 25.
