After the announcements from Prime Minister Jean Castex about strengthening health measures to counter the threat of Covid-19, the situation continues to worsen in France.
45,000 people have been vaccinated in France over the past five days, and a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine can be delayed up to six weeks, stated Prime Minister Jean Castex.
Meanwhile, Covid figures remain of crucial importance, with 21,703 new cases and 277 new deaths in the last 24 hours. These statistics are still far from the government’s goals in its fight against the pandemic: 5,000 new cases per day, which would indicate control of the epidemic.
In the PACA region, the number of deaths in hospitals has increased. 30 people have died, bringing the total number to 3,726 deaths, including 647 in the Alpes-Maritimes, which is seven more.
Since the onset of the epidemic, the PACA region has recorded 11,401 Covid-19 residents and 1,158 deaths in nursing homes, including 2,268 residents and 167 deaths in the 06 department.
At the regional level, the positivity rate has risen significantly this week to 6.5% from 3.5% the previous week. A high rate is notably observed in the Hautes-Alpes (10.1%) and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (8.6%). In the Alpes-Maritimes, the positivity rate stands at 7.7%.
