According to the latest information from AFP, more than 100 million people have officially been infected with the Coronavirus since it emerged in China a year ago.
Exactly 100,010,798 cases have been officially detected worldwide, resulting in 2,151,242 deaths. Even though a major part of these infected people are on the road to recovery, some retain a dangerous asymptomatic stage for several weeks.
France continues to rise
22,086 new cases and 352 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in France, according to Santรฉ Publique France. The tally now stands at 3,079,943 cases, including 169,291 in nursing homes, and 74,106 deaths, including 51,868 in hospitals and 22,238 in nursing homes.
In France, a total of 1,184,510 vaccination doses have been administered, which is 91,552 more in 24 hours. Now, the daily reported figures no longer indicate the total number of people vaccinated but the number of doses administered.

The country has 27,041 people hospitalized, of which 3,081 are placed in intensive care.
In the PACA region
In the PACA region, there are 1,592 people hospitalized (+4), 397 patients in intensive care (+12), and 4,357 people deceased in hospitals since the beginning of the crisis (+42).
In total, there are 13,289 Covid residents in nursing homes. In these, 1,514 deaths have been recorded since the epidemic began. Among the clusters, 530 are under investigation by the ARS teams and the Public Health France agency.
Out of 226,219 people tested, the region recorded a positivity rate of 8.3% (7.6% during the previous period).
At the regional level, the incidence rate, calculated from RT-PCR tests and antigenic tests, is 370 per 100,000 inhabitants in week 3 this month. This rate is up compared to week 2 (329).
In the Alpes-Maritimes
The Alpes-Maritimes department recorded 371 conventional hospitalizations (+12), 92 patients in intensive care (+8), 214 in follow-up and rehabilitation care (-1), and 781 deaths in hospital since the start of the health crisis (+9).
The incidence rate in the 06 is 447, remaining the highest in the region. The positivity rate has also increased in the Alpes-Maritimes: 9.1%, making it the highest rate in the PACA region, just ahead of Vaucluse (9%).
