This Tuesday, the President, Emmanuel Macron, promised a vaccine for “all French people who wish for it” by the end of the summer. The AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 authorized in France is not recommended for people over 65 years of age due to insufficient data on its efficacy in this age category, according to the Haute Autoritรฉ de Santรฉ (HAS).
This Tuesday, 23,337 new cases were recorded, and 404 people died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in France, bringing the total to 3,224,798 confirmed cases and 77,238 deaths (including 54,213 in hospitals) in France since the beginning of the epidemic, according to the latest data from the Santรฉ Publique France agency.
28,029 patients with the virus were hospitalized to date, which is 155 more compared to the day before, including 2,189 new admissions in 24 hours (against 1,750 this Monday). Among the most severe cases, 3,270 patients were in intensive care or emergency treatment, with 369 new admissions in one day (compared to 318 the day before).
To date, more than 1.54 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Among them, just over 67,000 had received both doses.
Following a meeting with Covid vaccine industry players at the Elysรฉe, President Emmanuel Macron urges the French to remain “extraordinarily responsible” in the face of the spread of the Coronavirus to prevent a potential third confinement, something that many have feared for several days.
“It is not our vaccination strategy that will allow us to avoid a confinement in the short term or not. It is our mobilization by all, that is, our ability to maintain barrier gestures and our ability to properly respect the test-accompany-protect triptych. It is collectively about being extraordinarily responsible as our fellow citizens have been for several weeks, and I thank them very deeply.”, stated the President.
