As Portugal is set to undergo a second national lockdown at the end of the week to curb the Covid-19 epidemic, in France, the possibility of a 6 pm curfew across the country seems to be increasingly debated. The Prime Minister, Jean Castex, will announce his decision this Thursday.

In total, 23,852 new positive Covid-19 cases have been recorded in France, according to the latest 24-hour figures from Public Health France. Thus, the total number of infections stands at 2,830,442.

A total of 232 deaths have also been reported across the country, bringing the total to 69,031 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic, including 48,028 in hospitals.

On the vaccination front, the Ministry of Health and Solidarity has indicated that over 247,000 people in France have received the vaccine to date.

In the PACA region, there are 1,148 people hospitalized (+35), 328 in intensive care (+10), and 3,896 deaths in hospitals (+25), including 681 in the Alpes-Maritimes.

In total, 12,296 Covid-19 residents have been in care homes since the beginning of the crisis, including 2,537 in the 06 department, and 1,244 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in care homes, including 194 in the Alpes-Maritimes.

It is worth noting that the positivity rate in the department remains high compared to that of the PACA region: 9.3% versus 7.5%.
