The Covid-19 epidemic has resulted in 25 new deaths since Friday in hospitals, bringing the total number of deaths to 30,029 since the beginning of the epidemic, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced on Monday.
The death toll in social and medico-social establishments (nursing homes), currently at 10,476 deaths, will be updated on Wednesday.
The health agency Santé publique France noted last week a “new trend of increased circulation of the virus” in mainland France, and authorities called for “vigilance” on Friday in light of the risk of a second wave. Since Friday, the decline in the number of patients with severe forms of the disease in intensive care continues, with 4 fewer patients, totaling 492.
In total, 6,983 people are currently hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection, with 68 new admissions recorded in 24 hours.
