France has detected 2,524 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, setting a record since April 28 when the country was still under lockdown, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) announced in its daily report this Wednesday, August 12.

More than 11,633 cases have been detected in one week.

143 new hospital admissions have been recorded, totaling 4,891 patients currently hospitalized. Among them, 17 new severe patients have been admitted to intensive care, bringing the total number of patients in these units to 379.

318 “clusters,” or hotspots of contagion, are still active in the country, including 18 new ones detected in the last 24 hours.

Between August 3 and 9, 606,487 tests were conducted in the country, with a positivity rate of 2.2%โ€”a figure that has been rising steadily for several days. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 108,616 people have been hospitalized, and 83,472 have returned home.
