As the fight against Covid-19 continues, the threat of a third wave of the epidemic in France is becoming increasingly significant. Here is the Covid update with the latest figures from Santé Publique France.
This Monday, the health authorities reported 3,736 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 2,914,725 infections in France since the beginning of the pandemic.
In hospitals, the number of new hospitalizations is 9,991 over one week, including 1,461 in intensive care. Currently, 2,803 people are in critical care units (37 compared to yesterday), with 254 new admissions in 24 hours.
Vaccination for Seniors
Regarding vaccination, 479,873 people have been vaccinated in France, which is 57,746 more than yesterday. Now, the Coronavirus vaccination is available to seniors and those over 75 who do not live in nursing homes. Since this Monday, people showing high-risk pathologies such as chronic kidney failure, cancer, or due to Down syndrome, are free to get vaccinated. This expansion would allow vaccinating an additional 800,000 people.
The ARS Figures in the PACA Region
In the PACA region, there are 1,276 people hospitalized (+95), 321 patients in intensive care (-13), and 4,064 hospital deaths since the beginning of the crisis (+93). Among these figures, the Alpes-Maritimes have recorded 275 conventional hospitalizations, 82 people in intensive care (+11), 210 patients in follow-up and rehabilitation care (SSR), and 727 hospital deaths since the onset of the pandemic (+21).
It is reminded that the Alpes-Maritimes is the second most affected department of the PACA region in terms of deaths, behind Bouches-du-Rhônes (1,970 deaths). However, the 06 department holds the highest intensive care bed occupancy rate at 95.7%.
