As the Alpes-Maritimes enters the confinement threshold starting this weekend, the impact of the epidemic in the department is more significant than ever. Here is the Covid update…
Worldwide, 109,207,597 confirmed cases have been recorded since the start of the epidemic, including 21,113,083 in the European Union countries. A total of 2,407,478 deaths have been counted, including 515,519 in EU countries.
In France
In France, 4,646 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded by health authorities, and 343 deaths have been counted. Thus, the total has risen to 3,609,827 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic and 84,639 deaths (including 60,159 in hospitals).
The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in intensive care surpassed 3,400 people this Monday, for the first time since last December.
The test positivity rate is 6.4%. In terms of vaccination, 2,564,530 people have received at least one dose of vaccine in France to date. In the past seven days, 9,463 new hospitalizations and 1,782 admissions to intensive care have been recorded in hospitals.
In the PACA region
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, according to the latest figures from the Public Health France agency, 1,653 people are hospitalized (+103), 461 people are in intensive care (+11), and 5,482 people have died from Covid-19 in hospitals since the beginning of the health crisis (+82).
207,707 people received a first dose of the vaccine in February. 80,269 have received both doses. From February 8 to 14, the test positivity rate is 7.6%. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the department has exceeded the 10% rate in terms of test positivity (10.4%), making it the highest in the entire region.
The incidence rate is 365 for the entire region. In department 06, it is 580. Once again, the Alpes-Maritimes holds the highest incidence rate in the PACA region.
Furthermore, the department has surpassed 1,000 deaths in hospitals since the beginning of the crisis, making it the second most affected in terms of deaths, with 1,002 deaths, behind Bouches-du-Rhône (2,567 deaths).
