6,111 people tested positive for Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, making it the second highest figure since March 30th, during the peak of the crisis, when 7,578 people were infected.
32 people have died from the coronavirus in France since Tuesday, according to figures published this Thursday, August 27, by the Directorate General of Health, bringing the total to 30,576 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
The number of clusters seems to be decreasing, with 22 detected since the last DGS report, and 486 still active in France. The total number of patients hospitalized after contracting the virus is also decreasing, with 4,535 people in care this Thursday compared to 4,600 on Tuesday. Similarly, the number of patients in intensive care is down by 29 (currently 381 people in intensive care) compared to the day before yesterday.
Amid the rise in cases, the Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of testing and health measures. “Let’s get tested at the slightest symptom, even mild, if the health authorities have identified us as a contact, after returning from a zone with active virus circulation, and in case of doubt after risky exposure (places of social interaction, festive venues where safety protocols couldn’t be observed),” reads the statement.
