In Normandy, the effective reproduction rate of the virus, or R (slope or epidemic speed), has notably exceeded the vigilance threshold set at 1 by rising to 1.14. Indeed, clusters have reportedly appeared in the southern part of the Rouen urban area.
The virus continues to spread across the entire territory, as shown by the number of new “clusters” (244 grouped cases since May 9, including 5 new ones and 123 that are no longer active).
10,125 people are hospitalized for a COVID-19 infection, and 136 new admissions have been recorded in 24 hours. 752 patients with a severe form of COVID-19 are being treated in intensive care. 15 new severe cases have been admitted to intensive care. The balance remains negative in intensive care, with 20 fewer COVID-19 patients compared to yesterday.
Currently, 103,654 people have been hospitalized, including 18,260 in intensive care. Among them, 73,887 people have returned home. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 29,603 people have died in France, including 19,146 in hospital settings.
