Coronavirus circulation: a new phase of lifting restrictions

Latest News

President Emmanuel Macron announced that the entire metropolitan territory has moved to the green zone. Only Mayotte and French Guiana are still in the orange zone. The situation is considered concerning.

In French Guiana, there is an intensification of viral circulation around the three major urban areas along the coast. All municipalities are now affected. Efforts continue in neighborhoods to limit the acceleration of the number of infected people and to detect as many cases and contacts as possible. Several measures to enhance hospital capacity have been initiated, such as transferring stabilized patients to medico-social beds, managed by home hospitalization teams.

Teams are reorganizing in facilities to accommodate more patients. They are supported by the health reserve, mobilized since last week. New reinforcements, specialized in resuscitation operations, are expected in the coming days.

In Mayotte, the number of cases is high but decreasing. Capacity reinforcements and medical evacuations to Réunion have helped avoid major hospital tensions.

In France, yesterday, SOS Médecins carried out 132 interventions for suspected COVID-19, representing 1.8% of total activity. Emergency services reported 111 visits for the same reason, accounting for 0.4% of total activity.

Since the start of the epidemic, 103,342 people have been hospitalized, including 18,217 in intensive care. 73,044 people have returned home. 29,436 people have died in France since the start of the epidemic, including 19,052 within hospital establishments.
