Coronavirus Covid-19 – increased controls for the Easter weekend

Latest News

This weekend again, police and national gendarmerie checks will be strengthened in the Alpes-Maritimes, whether it be on the highway network, main secondary roads, the coastline, the mountains, railway stations, Nice Côte d’Azur airport, the French-Italian border, or the French-Monegasque border, where coordinated Franco-Monegasque operations will be organized.

Municipal police forces will also support state security forces to enforce national lockdown rules as well as measures taken by the prefecture, including the prohibition of access to the coastal shore, forested areas, river, stream, and canal banks, as well as the port of Nice, and the “curfew” implemented since March 22 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in 24 coastal communities and/or those with more than 10,000 inhabitants.

Speed checks will also be conducted in the department, in light of observed lapses in road safety adherence and compliance with maximum authorized speeds.

Furthermore, the ban on renting hotel rooms and other seasonal accommodations for tourism purposes, decided on April 4 on the territories of the 24 communities affected by the curfew, is now extended to the entire department until April 15.
