More than 20,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded over the last 24 hours in France. Across the entire country, the positivity rate continues to rise, while the number of hospitalizations has slightly decreased, according to data published by Santรฉ publique France on Tuesday.
The number of confirmed cases was 20,489 compared to 4,022 the previous day and 12,489 on Sunday, with the figures for Monday always showing a dip due to the number of tests carried out over the weekend.
This daily figure has varied greatly since mid-December, ranging from 3,000 to more than 21,000. A far cry from the governmentโs goal of reducing it to 5,000 cases per day.
The positivity rate, which measures the percentage of people who test positive for Covid-19 out of all those tested, slightly increased to 5.4% compared to 5.2% on Sunday and Monday.
The number of hospitalized patients stands at 24,871, which is 91 fewer than on Monday, with 1,747 new hospitalizations in 24 hours.
The number of patients in intensive care is 2,616, which is 41 fewer than the previous day, with 245 new admissions in 24 hours.
With 346 deaths in hospitals (including 380 last Monday, and 116 last Sunday), the virus has caused 66,282 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
