Starting this weekend, 16 departments announced by the government, where the Covid-19 incidence rate is high, will enter a period of lockdown for four weeks. Everything starts at midnight. From this weekend, the sixteen departments particularly affected by the health crisis, notably in ÃŽle-de-France, Hauts-de-France, and Alpes-Maritimes, are entering a lockdown period for the next four weeks, as announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex. Therefore, exceptional travel certificates are back, except everyone will be free to move around for an unlimited time within a ten-kilometer radius.

Covid Figures

Worldwide, there are 120,268,427 confirmed cases since December 2019, including 24,175,984 in the European Union countries. 2,659,802 deaths have been recorded, including 577,310 in the EU.

In the last 24 hours, health authorities have recorded 34,998 new Covid-19 cases and 274 deaths in France, according to the latest information provided by the public health agency, Santé Publique France. The total toll now rises to 4,181,607 confirmed cases and 91,706 deaths (including 66,301 in hospitals) since the start of the health crisis.

The positivity rate of tests has slightly increased compared to last year: 7.7% (versus 7.5%). As of March 17, 5,630,671 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine nationwide.

10,241 new hospitalizations and 2,259 intensive care admissions have been recorded over the past seven days.

In the PACA Region

In the PACA region, 1,460 people are hospitalized (+12), 501 people are in intensive care (-3), and 6,352 people have died in hospitals since the start of the crisis (+33).

In the Alpes-Maritimes, 340 people are hospitalized (-4), 131 people are in intensive care (+3), and 1,233 people have died in hospitals since the start of the pandemic (+4).

As of March 16, 463,490 people have received at least a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the PACA region. 190,363 have received both doses. In total, more than 37% of the population aged 75 and over in the region has received a dose of the vaccine. More than 19% have received both doses. It should be noted that over 20,000 doses of the vaccine were administered this weekend thanks to the significant mobilization of many actors and volunteers for vaccination as part of the fight against the pandemic.
